Spherical roller bearings with two rollers, mainly designed to bear radial loads, but also capable of withstanding axial loads in either direction. These bearings feature high radial load capacity and are particularly suitable for heavy loads or vibration applications, though they cannot bear pure axial loads.

The outer ring raceway has a spherical shape, providing excellent self-aligning performance that compensates for concentricity errors. The design includes two symmetrical spherical rollers and a common spherical outer ring raceway, with the inner ring featuring two axis-tilted raceway angles.

This self-aligning capability allows normal operation even when the shaft is bent or installed with misalignment. The allowable aligning angle typically ranges from 1 to 2.5 degrees depending on bearing size. In addition to handling radial loads, these bearings can withstand axial loads and offer good impact resistance. Generally, self-aligning roller bearings operate at lower speeds than other bearing types.
